Linda Smith: Behind The Music
Blowing Away Traffic Record - June 26, 2007
The amount of daily traffic to this website is blowing away any other month yet. It is double, even triple the traffic of past months. :-)
We have also restocked Sunday List of Dreams, we had a run on it this month as well.
Castle In The Sand - June 26, 2007
I just found your website. A few years ago someone told me about this great benefit album whose tracks could be downloaded at mp3.com. Your "Castle In The Sand" was one of them and it's remained a favorite of mine. Ever since, I've googled you about once a year, hoping to find more of your work, but always came up empty. Until tonight! I was so glad to find your website!

CD Release Party - March 26, 2007
I had my CD Release Party this week and it was fantastic. The band really did their thing well, the crowd stuck around till they turned the lights out on them. The owner set up a lot of candles and white linen. I felt like Stevie Knicks for a moment. Love you all and can't wait till we jam together again.
WAER Radio Syracuse, NY - March 15, 2007
I recently discovered your name through the MusicSubmit website and
would love to receive a copy of your CD for airplay on one of our weekend

Media Update - February 27, 2007
Some great things are happening with the Sunday List of Dreams project. I have been added to the playlist of a number of new internet radio stations, including one in London. I had record hits on my website this month, even thought it's a short month. As Kris Radish has been touring the country she has been playing it on radio stations and handing them out at book events all over the country. Maverick Country - the Uk's leading country and roots magazine has asked for a copy of the cd to review. A Canadian television show that focuses on independent music has asked me to submit a few music videos. I am also preparing for a cd release party in March. Alot of other things are happening, too many to list.
Follow your dreams!

Sunday List of Dreams Press Release - January 16, 2007
This year I joined millions of people worldwide in making my New Years Resolutions. So far I have walked in the direction of my goals without being perfect every day. Some of my friends have given up the moment they ‘fail’. I just keep getting up and starting over.
This reminds me of Connie from Kris Radish’s newest book The Sunday List of Dreams. Connie is about to retire and realizes that she has spent years writing her list of dreams without ever getting up off the couch and living any of them. She dedicates herself to following her dreams and the rest of the book shows you how those dreams unfold. Linda Smith has released a cd called the Sunday List of Dreams based on this commitment to living out your dreams. She has captured the sense of excitement and the enthusiasm one has when embarking on such an adventure.
Sunday List of Dreams is the title cut and theme song on this new release by Linda Smith. It’s optimistic and the hook is so catchy you will find yourself walking down the street and humming it. The Sunday List of Dreams project by Linda Smith is a 6 track cd of 3 original songs based on the book by Kris Radish. The first mix is a basic straightforward folk rock one and the second mix has a modern country flair to it, with a fiddle and steel guitar licks adding to the rich vocals and harmonies.
Linda Smith is a talented singer/songwriter in the Chicago area. She has successfully completed national tours, multiple cd projects, music videos, and a rockumentary about her career. She garnered recognition in Billboards National Songwriting contest with her ballad, Fall In Love Again and has a Certificate of Appreciation from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Inc. Chicago Chapter.

It’s My Lifetime Press Release - January 16, 2007
Connie finds herself retiring next week and she is preparing to sell the house that she has lived in for 33 years. Just when she decides to sell, the walls start talking to her, whispering with secrets and distant memories. Connie is a character in Kris Radish’s new book - Sunday List of Dreams, but we can all relate to that feeling of an individual’s living history somehow stored between the walls of a home that a person invested so many years in.
Linda Smith has released the new song, It’s My Lifetime, based on Connie’s dilemma. The song may be about Connie’s house and its memories, but it is ultimately about her leaving the first half of her life for an unknown second half. While it may be exciting to move forward and leave all of the baggage of the past behind-there is a realization that even though it’s baggage, it’s her baggage and her memories and her lifetime.
It’s My Lifetime has a great feel to it, with the interesting use of congas and strong melodies. It just flows as you get caught up in the story and soon you find yourself singing at the end with Linda. This is the 3rd track on the Sunday List of Dreams cd.

I Still See My Little Girl Press Release - January 16, 2007
Of the mother’s surveyed, 92% reported feeling guilty about their parenting skills (Mommy Guilt by Amacon Books). I Still See My Little Girl is a new song by Linda Smith that addresses this subject from the point of view of a mother that wishes she could reconnect with her daughter. It is based on the main character, Connie, and her strained relationship with her daughter Jessica in the latest Kris Radish book - Sunday List of Dreams. When Jessica was a little girl Connie envisioned that they would be best friends some day. Now Jessica lives in New York, doesn’t return her mother’s phone calls, and hasn’t been home to visit in 3 years.
Linda Smith captures this longing for a close relationship that a mother has for her daughter perfectly in this song. The acoustic guitar parts and harmonies compliment Linda’s strong vocals and tender message delivered through well written lyrics that help you understand a mother’s breaking heart.
The Sunday List of Dreams project by Linda Smith is a 6 track cd of 3 original songs based on the book by Kris Radish. The first mix is a basic straightforward folk rock one, with congas/traditional drums and electric and acoustic guitar licks coming in and out. The second mix has a modern country flair to it, with a fiddle and steel guitar licks adding to the rich vocals and harmonies.

New Years Resolutions - December 30, 2006
It's that time of year, and I notice that many of my resolutions are ongoing. I want to eat better and exersize more this year. I also want to simplify my life where ever I can so I will be maintaining 1 music website and not multiple ones. I would also like to release a new project this year. I just finished the 3 songs for the book and the author really liked them. They are solid so we will have to see how things go at the recording studio level.
Hope all of your dreams come true and that you find happiness in the coming year.
Love, Linda
3 Song Deal - November 10, 2006
I have been working on organizing my cover songs and all of my origionals from all the projects I've been on. I would like to say I am close to finishing, but I think this will be an ongoing project, and maybe it should be.
The most exciting news is that I have accepted a proposal to write 3 songs connected to the next release of a book. It's a great opportunity and the songs will be used to promote the book. Well, I am not going to get ahead of myself. I am just going to write one song at a time. I'll let you know how it all turns out. :-)
Bad blind date made good with Mamie. - September 4, 2006
I just wanted to drop you a line this will sound odd but thanks. I should explain, I was on a date the other week, we were to go out to a club and see a band that her friend was singing in, whatever public place first date. I was forced to listen to the worst screeching posing as music for what seemed like hours was actually only 45 minutes. I can't carry a tune but heck I know it therefore you will never see me on stage unless I am so very drunk. After the wailing was over we agreed to go to dinner, taking her car since parking is a problem at the beaches. I was ready to go home by this time first and last date. I hate when my coworkers think that they can set me up. Well we got in her car and your song Mamie's Corner Pub was playing in the cd player. After the bad "punk band" music it was a bit of a shock. We both laughed and she told me that you were one of her favorites. That she was just trying to support her friend in her music but it sounds like two cats fighting to her.
It made the rest of the night comfortable and ended up having a great time. I had never heard your music before and have to say I love your sound. If you ever perform anywhere near Jacksonville Florida please let me know and I will be there. Most likely dragging as many friends as I can because you rock.
Thanks for making a bad date good.

Another cool email from a radio station - March 20, 2006
Here is a radio station that my friends love and that I really think is something special. If you want to check them out the link is on the other side. Just got this email from them:
I really love your music. I'm one of the DJs at Society of Sound, and after Chris showed us your stuff, I fell in love with it. You've got a very smooth, relaxing, but still strong voice. Your lyrics are very powerful and feel very real. The sound you provived is invaluble. I play some of your songs on my weekly show every week, and the feedback is wonderful. But personally I'm a big fan and hope to buy all of your CDs soon. The music hits very close to home for me as well, seeing as I'm a Texas girl. Thank you for making some of your tracks available on your website, I greatly appreciate it and hope to hear more soon.

Awesome Email - December 7, 2005
Here is an email I got from Chris at Society of Sound. I am starting to become a big fan. Check it out:
--------------------------------------
I finally got to sit down and give a
real good listen to the tracks that I downloaded, and I just kept
listening and listening. You have an amazingly strong
voice...hauntingly strong. As the guy that runs Society Of Sound
(along
with a full time job), I designate alot of tasks to my DJ's, but I
still
manage to have my own live show once a week, and it's on Friday's at
8pm
CST/ 9pm EST. I was planning to sort of kick off our Indy revival
stuff
on my 12-2-05 show and I still do. We have a variety of DJ's (12 of
them actually), and we all sort of touch on different genres. I've
been
a club DJ for the past 15 years, but deep inside I'm a Bob Dylan, Van
Morrison, Waterboys, Dave Matthews (along with many more) fan. With
that in mind, I'm going to start my show tomorrow with a little more
toward my "folksy" side. I'm going to get in 2 of your tracks (Like It
Is and Day By Day, I think) early on in my set. I'll also give some
commentary about you and your website. I know it's short notice, but
tune in if ya want! Your downloadable tracks are already on my
playlist
and in rotation. And I'm on my way to buy your CD's right now. I wish
the best of luck to you and keep up the soulful stuff.....Like It Is
brings a tear to my eye everytime I listen.
Sincerely,
Chris (DJ Otori)
